Book 'em! Interior of new Great Scotland Yard Hotel revealed

2/05/2019

House Beautiful have just published photographs of the stunning interior of the new super luxury Great Scotland Yard Hotel.

The hotel - with 153 unique bedrooms, 11 suites, including a townhouse suite suitable for visiting VIPs, a restaurant and parlour tea room - was built by Galliard, forward-sold to Abu Dhabi based Lulu Group International and is operated by Hyatt.

A far cry from its days as a spartan working home for the Metropolitan Police, it now boasts a library, gymnasium with changing rooms, meeting/conference rooms, a 120 seater conference space/ballroom and VIP function rooms.  The hotel pays homage to its police and military history through its carefully secret doors, hidden rooms, shields, emblems and historic details etched into glass and metalwork.

The development is a magnum opus by EPR (the architects responsible for the redesign of The Ned and the Rosewood London, as well as another piece of London police history, the NoMad at Bow Street Magistrates Court set to open in 2020).  It completes the first hotel for Hyatt’s ‘Unbound Collection’ in London.

There will be people behind bars at Great Scotland Yard, but the chances are they'll be serving drinks.
