New boutique hotel thunders into Kings Cross

The regeneration of Kings Cross continues apace with the recent opening of the Gyle hotel, which has opened its doors as part of St Pancras Hotels Group,  operated by founder and owner Tony Megaro.

Best known for the colourful dazzle-patterned Megaro opposite St Pancras Station, the group has opened its new 33-bedroom boutique on Argyle Square, situated in three 19th century townhouses.  It is the result of a two-year, multi-million pound major redesign and transformation of a former B&B.

The hotel's signature Toast Lounge is a world upside-down, with a floor of the sky above Loch Fyne and the ceiling like a lawn. Its reception also features hanging clouds which emit thunder sounds and lighting strikes.

Grass on the ceiling and thunder indoors...sataboot?

The design at The Gyle is said to be whimsical’, with nods to the area’s Scottish and Victorian roots, with a ‘resolutely fresh and modernist tone’ curated by artist and designer Henry Chebaane.
